Wand vor lauter Räumen, 2024

Wall paper, wood, strings

340x250x300 cm

Das Klohäuschen, Munich

Scraps of wallpaper found through a research on Ebay-Kleinanzeigen and collected on train journeys with the Deutschlandticket from various places between Hamburg and Wolfratshausen in Bavaria form the material basis of the immersive installation in the former public toilet Das Klohäuschen at Munich’s wholesale market hall. Cut into strips  and hung in rows on a cord grid under the ceiling, they form a space that allows to experience the tense relationship between the cool functionality of the location and individual ideas of homeliness. Visitors were invited to engage in a play of visual, perspectival and haptic perception. The installation was part of Munich’s  Mueseum Night and was portrayed by  Süddeutsche Zeitung.
