Fuji-San, 2022
Photo prints on affiche paper, wood, strings, electric motor
230x230x200 cm
Artspace Bremerhaven
The immersive, kinetic installation consists of a large number of tourist snapshots of Japan’s photogenic volcano. The screenshots from social media posts are printed in large format on poster paper, cut into strips and attached to a cord grid in a wooden frame. The image parts with the mountain are cut off from the prints and spread on the floor so that the backgrounds with different Japanese clichés recreate its shape as a hollow space. Visitors are invited to wander across the flattened massif and be surrounded by cherry blossoms, pagodas and sunsets. The installation of images of the most beautiful mountain according to the Internet was conceived as a gift to the topographically flat port city of Bremerhaven.
